As a UAE national born in the prime years of educational prosperity, she has been highly moved towards the societal and community work by focusing on a section of society that requires special care. After attaining her university degree in Psychology from United States in the early 80’s, she quickly joined in the following year the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS).
Her experience as Director General of (SCHS) has widely involved a range of various fields including advocating disability rights in education, rehabilitation, recreation, sports and employment. In the early decade of her involvement, she has initiated the set-up of different departments and programs that tailor to different needs and requirements of people with disabilities of all ages. Alongside of that, in collaborations with her team, they established a series of awareness initiatives and campaigns, an Illustrative of them is the regional magazine, (Al Manal), with monthly issues in order to spread awareness to the community in the field of disability. Further to achieving her Master’s degree in Business Administration, she has contributed to building capacities of professional specialists and innovative practices, which contributed as effective community of practice locally and regionally.
Being an active advocate, she has dedicated her efforts to promote community advancement and social development through advocacy, inclusion, and empowerment of people with disabilities and their families. Through implementing different initiatives, we have since shaped and designed employability prospects as well as societal inclusion for them in the United Arab Emirates and the region.
